Summary
The Quicksilver International Water Polo Cup is an amazing opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills and learn from international teams from around the world. This is a high level tournament featuring competitiveness, intensity, and sportsmanship.
In the 2023/24 season I had the opportunity to attend the Quicksilver tournament with a 16U boys team and was very impressed by the level of competition. Canadian athletes rarely have opportunities to compete with athletes from outside of North America and I was very pleased by our performance winning 4 out of 5 games. The athletes who attended had a great time and learned a lot. We also had several parent volunteers who helped organize meals and outings for the athletes creating a really positive community experience.
If you are interested in being considered for a position on one of the Canadian Quicksilver teams you are strongly encouraged to attend the Christmas 2024 camp, or one of the KAP7 tournament trips I am organizing through the year, to demonstrate your skills and ability to work with an unfamiliar team. However, attendance is not mandatory and athletes will also be considered based on their individual experience, playing position, and recommendations from their coaches.
Based on our performance and the relationships I formed with the coaches last year, I have been granted exclusive Canadian rights to organize teams for the Quicksilver 2025 tournament. This Summer we are hoping to enter 3 teams into the Quicksilver International Cup. Teams will be based on registration with the goal of forming at least one strong team at each age group with a potential additional team based on interest. This tournament will be paired with a 5 day training camp. Athletes will have three days before Quicksilver to train as a team and 2 days after for campus visits, video sessions, and additional training to grow their skillset for future competitions.
